The history of KinesiologyKinesiology guideKinesiology is regarded as both an art form and a science; it is regarded as a science because it has rules, methods, principles and logical techniques while it also involves intuitions, feelings and practice which also make it an art form. Kinesiology is all about muscle manipulation and was first developed by an orthopedic surgeon by the name of R.W.lovett in 1932. However in 1949 this technique was improved upon by Florence and Henry Kendall, but it was chiropractor DR George Good heart who really put this knowledge to the best use; he is considered the father of modern day Kinesiology. He was the first person to actually develop muscle testing followed by corrections then re testing the muscles which is the principal still widely used today. The first correction he made was to press the ends of the weak muscles which is still used today and is now called the origin/insertion method. It was an osteopath by the name of Frank Chapman that first discovered that poor lymph flow was related to some diseases. He found by rubbing these areas of the lymphatic system which were tender could help certain conditions. This is where today's lymphatic points system is used in modern Kinesiology. This information was developed upon and led to more corrections when combined with muscle testing. Terence bennet a chiropractor found also that by improving the blood flow could also help to alleviate certain conditions. He then began devising a system of points on the body which led to the neurovascular points used today. Good heart also found that by using the system know by the Chinese as the meridian points which is used in acupuncture provided them with another set of corrections which could be used. This new system was named Applied Kinesiology and it is a form which is still used today by chiropractors. John Thie who worked alongside Good heart went on to develop a new system from what they had learned and this was called touch for health as Thie wanted to reach and touch everyone with this system which relied on totally holistic methods of healing. Touch for health was specifically aimed at teaching people the principles of Kinesiology and the benefits that could be gained from it. The program has been a huge success and today millions of people have learned and benefited from this system. Another protégé of good halls was a man named Alan Beardall, Beardall developed the principal of the human mind being like that of a super computer, with the brain being the central processor sending out information to the rest of the body. Using this theory he could ask the body questions and get answers to where the problems lay by using muscle testing to get yes or no answers. The two major components of toady's modern Kinesiology were developed from these very early beginnings, academic Kinesiology and clinical Kinesiology. Another branch of Kinesiology which was developed from touch for health is known as specialized Kinesiology and makes use of emotions and intuition, and relies more on what our bio computer tells us. Today there are many different forms of specialized Kinesiology and more are being introduced as new methods of what works and what doesn't are found. |
