The art of KinesiologyKinesiology guideKinesiology is a holistic approach to medicine and is based upon the belief that every muscle within our body is related to an organ and energy path which is called the meridian channel. All these factors combine to form a circuit within the body and due to many factors this circuit can become broken which then leads to problems and illness within the body. The weakness or strength of these muscles which relate to corresponding systems in our body indicate our physical, mental and bio chemical health and is known as the triangle of health. A chiropractor by the name of DR George Good heart treated a patient way back in the 1960`s for a dislocated shoulder blade, he found that by massaging muscles within our body seemingly unrelated areas within the body were affected. Thus began Kinesiology and from there several other methods and variations sprang up including applied Kinesiology, educational Kinesiology, systematic Kinesiology and clinical Kinesiology. The backbone behind all the forms focus on one thing assessing how your muscles respond when light pressure is put on them which leads to the practitioner pinpointing imbalances within the body and our bodies energy and restoring our body back to health. What happens during a Kinesiology session? The practitioner will ask the patient to lie or sit on a couch with one of their forearms lying at a right angle to their body; light pressure is then placed on the arm to see how much resistance is in the muscle. Practitioners of Kinesiology believe that our body knows why we are having problems and interprets it if the muscle relaxes then this means a "No" and if the muscle remains tense it's a "yes". From this the practitioner will then begin to ask you a series of questions in order to determine why the muscle is relaxed or tense. The practitioner may also include the use of food items held against your body to see how you respond to them; it is thought that the physical, mental and chemical changes which are used by the therapist will let your body tell them in its own way the information needed to bring harmony back to your body. A session with a therapist will usually last about an hour in which during this time the therapist can determine problems which may have been caused by allergies to certain foods and foods which disagree with you, causes of stress and nutritional imbalances. The therapist may also rebalance your chakras to help bring back harmony and release stress and tension and may also recommend a detox program. While Kinesiology can be performed on people of all ages including babies and pregnant women many medical Doctors are still skeptical today as to whether Kinesiology is a true method of diagnosis, while Kinesiology cannot hurt you and is worth trying if you have had any recurrent or persistent problems then always check with your Doctor as well as receiving treatment from a Kinesiologist. |
